The Family Support Program provides support for adults and children over the age of seven living with Autism Spectrum Disorder, with or without a formal diagnosis.
The Family Support Program provides information and support to assist people navigate through the community, health and disability service systems to access the most appropriate services for their individual needs. The Family Support Program also organises and facilitates monthly support groups and promotes events, workshops, seminars and information sessions. The aims of these activities are to develop awareness and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders in the community and support our community to be better informed and connected. Please look under the workshops tab for more information on the groups that are available at AAACT.
Disability ACT supports AAACT’s Family Support Program to service the community through annual funding grants.
These grants are to support the ASD Community to access:
- Information and Referral
- Case Management, Local Coordination and Development
NDIS in the ACT
The National Disability Insurance Scheme is a new way of funding individualised support for people with a disability that involves more choice and control with a lifetime approach to a person’s support needs. To participate in the NDIS, you will need to meet the disability or early intervention requirements as well as the age and residence requirements. More information can be found on the NDIS website www.ndis.gov.au
