Autism Asperger ACT members monthly meeting:   will be focusing on iPads and apps.

Gay von Ess and Mel McFadden would like to invite parents, therapists and educators with/without an iPad to this wonderful opportunity to learn and share. Whether  you’re a beginner, novice or expert on apps and iPads we guarantee there will be something for everyone on the night.  The night will be focused on apps for kids aged 2-8, however information and discussion will be useful to all who have, or are interested in an iPad.

Coffee Morning for Parents and Grandparents of School Aged Children with an ASD

AAACT are intending to hold a Coffee Morning for members who are parents or grandparents of school aged children on Wednesday, 4th July, 10am to noon.  The first this year! We hope to introduce a wider world view of autism with some wonderfully caring parents either on international posting or recently settled in Australia.  They will be speaking from their individual overseas experiences of supporting a child on the ASD spectrum.   It would be a wonderful opportunity for every parent to hear first-hand from the international community in the ASD world.

Light it up Blue!

Light it up Blue is an inspired international awareness program about Autism. Iconic buildings throughout the world will be lit up on World Autism Awareness Day.   World Autism Awareness Day shines a bright light on autism as a growing global health concern. WAAD activities help to increase and develop world knowledge of the autism crisis and impart information regarding the importance of early diagnosis and early intervention. Additionally, WAAD celebrates the unique talents and skills of people with autism, and features community events around the world where individuals with autism and their families are warmly welcomed and embraced.

In 2011, the UN Department of Public Information welcomed Autism Awareness Australia as an NGO member. Also last year, Sydney, with the support of the NSW Government, was added to the list of international cities taking part as the sails of the Sydney Opera House shone with a bright blue light for all to see.

Look out for our awareness program and take the opportunity to tell your friends, work colleagues and neighbours about autism. The more we spread the word — the better the understanding!
