Special Needs Toys is a family business that offers parents, teachers and therapists an easy and economical way of buying equipment, toys and aids that can be used in play or as part of a therapy program.

Tam's Fashion Evenings: join in the fun!

Laughter, bubbly and great volunteer models  — our latest fashion evening in October raised $430 for AAACT!

Tam has some great plans for exclusive evenings at some of Canberra’s terrific fashion houses.  These will be held spontaneously throughout the year. Each event will be focusing on different fashion houses to encourage our members to meet and buy — and raise funds for AAACT!

Carols by Candlelight; $8200 raised!!

We are very privileged that Jeanette Purkis, renowned author, public speaker and documentary star will be hosting an adult women’s group on the first Monday in the month. Likely members will be adult ASD women and mothers of ASD daughters.

Charity Christmas Card Shop: finals Day at the shop 22 November

In 2011 we will be participating in Canberra’s Charity Card shop and aiming to put a Christmas card in every home! Buy cards available in packs of 10 to celebrate and publicise AAACT.

The craft skilling group is directed towards parents and carers or independent adults with ASD looking for a break from routine.  Are you interested in learning a new skill and creating something beautiful and lasting?  Trying something different?  Then join us with this exciting new social venture.  Simple refreshments will be provided.

This will be a chance to catch up and discuss schooling and parenting challenges/successes that  your family with others who may be sharing the same experience.

There is no cost associated with this meeting. Coffee/tea and biscuits are available, but you will need to bring a plate or packed lunch for yourself. Feel free to contribute a cake or slice to share if you enjoy baking!

Partners of ASD person’s Group

We are delighted that Paula Mills will be hosting an adult partners group on the third Monday in the month, from February until November, 2011. Current partners and ex partners are likely to be members of this group. The maximum number of attendees will be ten persons; creating an intimate atmosphere to promote friendship and enabling the development of personal supports within the group setting. The agenda focus will be set by the group members during the meetings as the year unfolds.

This social group is for fathers of ASD children/adolescents/ adult children who are interested in self-help group with persons in the similar situation.  The focus on is on social activities for Dads arranged by the Dads in conjunction with AAACT.
