Sibs Club 2012
A club specifically for siblings or family members (son, daughter, niece, nephew or grandchild) of those on the Autism Spectrum (Autism, Asperger’s, PDD- NOS).
Six month membership January to June 2012 is $30.00 per family (up to two children).
Sibs Club is an activity based support group for primary aged children. Sibs Club meets on the 3rd of Friday evening each month from 6-8pm. We have fun activities and discussions about issues the children bring up in conversation. Sibs Club is not a therapeutic group as such, however there are therapeutic moments that occur as we chat about issues relevant to the children. The children have input into the programme of activities each year.
Sibs Club is currently facilitated by Annie Close, supported by a team of volunteers. We provide a supportive fun environment for children to be with peers experiencing similar things with ASD.
We run activities and outings that many children may not be able to do in their family situation.
Children may join the group from the middle of kindergarten through to year 6. Older children are welcome to come as junior leaders and helpers.
The Sibs Club is run by Autism Asperger ACT Inc, and families are required to be members of AAACT.
