The Women’s group meets monthly in the Bendigo Room at the Chifley Health & Well being Hub. We meet at 7:30 pm until 9 pm on the first Monday in the month. The group is open to women with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and mothers of daughters with an ASD.
In 2012 we wish to make the Women’s group an open group so please register your interest in becoming a member for 2012: HERE. For further information contact Julia (AAACT Family Support Officer) through juliab@autismaspergeract.com.au
Jeanette Purkis, author of ‘Finding a Different Kind of Normal: Misadventures with Asperger Syndrome’ facilitates discussion.
The group offers an opportunity for participants to raise issues around life with ASD in an inclusive and supportive atmosphere. Some of the topics covered by the group include employment, diagnosis, friendships, creativity and family relationships.
The group also hosts guest speakers on matters related to life with ASD or parenting a daughter with autism or Asperger’s.
During the year, a positive outcome is that participants have formed friendships and socialised outside the group.
