Common pathways for an autism assessment in the ACT
In the ACT, there are a number of options when getting an assessment for autism. To be considered eligible for FaHCSIA Early Intervention funding, a child under 6 years old will need to follow one of the pathways below. PLEASE REMEMBER, a child must register with an Advisor for FaHCSIA Early Intervention funding before their 6th birthday.
If a child is 5 or over, or for more information, please contact an Autism Advisor. Call (02) 6176 0515 or email advisor@autismaspergeract.com.au.
Early Days
Early Days is a series of workshops for mothers, fathers, carers and families of young children (0-6years) who have an Autism Spectrum Disorder or who are going through the assessment and diagnostic process.
These workshops are provided free of charge, funded by the federal governments Helping Children with Autism initiative and delivered by local facilitators.
For more information and to register, see the ‘Early Days’ section of our website, or click here.
PlayConnect
PlayConnect playgroups help families with children with an ASD, or with ASD like symptoms. Kids up to 6 years old can attend, siblings are welcome, and groups are free!
In the ACT and Queanbeyan, PlayConnect is run on most days of the week, and across the region. PlayConnect runs during the school terms.
