Light it up Blue!

Light it up Blue is an inspired international awareness program about Autism. Iconic buildings throughout the world will be lit up on World Autism Awareness Day.   World Autism Awareness Day shines a bright light on autism as a growing global health concern. WAAD activities help to increase and develop world knowledge of the autism crisis and impart information regarding the importance of early diagnosis and early intervention. Additionally, WAAD celebrates the unique talents and skills of people with autism, and features community events around the world where individuals with autism and their families are warmly welcomed and embraced.

In 2011, the UN Department of Public Information welcomed Autism Awareness Australia as an NGO member. Also last year, Sydney, with the support of the NSW Government, was added to the list of international cities taking part as the sails of the Sydney Opera House shone with a bright blue light for all to see.

Look out for our awareness program and take the opportunity to tell your friends, work colleagues and neighbours about autism. The more we spread the word — the better the understanding!

Check out the national Light it up Blue program on the Autism Awareness web site www.autismawareness.com.au
